We generally love Sprig toys but were disappointed with this. The concept is great and snapping it together was fun, but one bottom piece would never stay on properly (the piece that goes between the two axels). Also, the colors are off - the frame of the truck was a dirty gray color (as opposed to a nice brown in the pics here) and the rake and bucket were a weird green/brown (as opposed to the cheery yellow). Also, the figure is actually in 2 pieces and the white face/wings piece kept falling out of the hole where it attached to the rest of the body. I don't mind that it comes out, but wish it would have stayed in much better. We would have glued it if we kept it but instead returned it because we were simply not satisfied. It's also a bit on the small side, but I guess not too small for the price and for little hands. I would say the ideal age for this is 4-6 but wish the colors were better and the pieces fit together and stayed together better. What a wonderful find!!! I was able to install this gate on my own at the top of our staircase within 30 minutes. It probably could have taken less time but I ALWAYS read the instructions from start to finish and probably spent too much time remeasuring things before installation. My 1 year old no longer has to remain in his room when upstairs. He is now free to run up and down the hall and explore the other rooms without us worrying about him taking a tumble down the stairs.

I love the the gate swings both ways and was pleased to see that this gate came in the "extra tall" option. The two extensions that are included are a great perk even though at the present time we are not using them. However, we plan to continue to use this gate even after babyproofing the stairway is no longer necessary. As others have already mentioned, it can also be used to keep pets out of specific areas.

My only recommendation would be for the company to use metal instead of plastic for the spring latch that locks the gate in place at the top. We haven't had any problems thus far but it just seems as though plastic would break/snap more quickly over time.

(2) The legs, if not placed right, cause the whole piece to swing from side-to-side along with the motion of the swing. It requires some trial and error to figure out the right position for the legs.

I registered for this product and this was given to me at my baby shower! I was so excited to have a small lightweight compact swing, easy to move from room to room, and not have another huge piece of baby equipment to store. My cousin was visiting us one day right before our baby arrived, and she had her 3 month old with her, he got a little fussy, and I pulled out the swing, I couldn't wait to see it in action! Well the swing could not hold him up?! He kept falling over, so we rolled up a blanket and put it around and under the head support and that seemed to mostly do the trick.

Still I held on to this "cute" little swing, with the impression that it just might be different with my child... and it was... My son is only 7 weeks old, not even two months yet, and was enjoying himself on the swing today, with the blanket contraption around the head support, or he will also falls over. All of the sudden I look over and he is trying to sit up more in the swing, almost lean forward, before I could get to him, "bonk!" my child, and flipped forward in the seat and it caused him to bonk his head on the bar underneath the swing in front! If the weight is shifted to far forward, the seat almost folds in half and throws your baby forward!! My baby was strapped in but still he obviously can hang way over the front of swing enough to hit his head on the floor or bar in front. This is a huge warning, I have been trying to reach the manufacturer but they appear to be closed tonight, I will be calling tomorrow. It appears the previous review also had a simalar problem, I am supprised these haven't been recalled yet.

I am a second time mom--I used a crib for the first, and this hammock for the second. I love it because the baby loves it!! She sleeps excellently in this. It provides just a little bit of motion when the baby stirs and cradles her just a little on the sides. Here's a comparison with cribs.

Cons:
Technically, you're not supposed to use this when the baby is able to start crawling (children can stay in cribs for years), so you're going to have to switch to something else eventually, so if you just go for a crib to begin with, maybe you're saving money. But from this mom's perspective, the extra sleep you and the baby are going to get from this is worth every penny.

There is no safety harness strap. (Not really necessary unless you intend to use it beyond the recommended time--dare I admit it?)

Now that my child is used to sleeping in this, it will be hard to travel without it (since most people we visit have pack-n-plays). And if I wanted to travel with it that badly (I'm debating it), it would be another piece of equipment to haul along.

Harder to clean if something spills over. And you have to use specialty sheets, which are more expensive (Arm's Reach site sells a single sheet for $20.)

Pros:
Takes up less space than a crib. It's light and easy to move around.

It provides just a little bit of motion and cradles the baby at a nice angle--not flat on her back--so the baby doesn't realize that they've been "deserted" by mommy.

I can put her in the hammock, and gently rock it while she falls asleep instead of having the baby fall asleep rocking her in my arms and then waking her up trying to get her into bed.

I can easily reach into this to put the baby down or get her up and she's still secure. Because I'm short and they've recalled all drop-side cribs, it's extremely hard for me to reach to lift the baby in and out of the crib, especially if the baby is at the backside.

It's a nice neutral color that will fit in with any decorating scheme and won't distract the baby while they're trying to fall asleep.

Looks cool and cute... doesn't seem very stable though, but don't know yet for sure, hasn't started using it! Also there is not much difference between the speed levels, even the lowest is kind of too fast so the baby can get dizzy!!! The melodies are ok!
It came a little dirty (the white parts) kind of dusty... so i had to clean that!
Also there was a defect in mine (which was a present :( ) - one of the tubes didn't fit into the other, where it was supposed to!

If you need a swing, this is a good one. The classical music selection is nice, and the 6 speeds are good. We used 1-2 for our newborn, then upped it to 4-5 as he got older. The recline is also very nice and easy to use.

It doesn't pack away very well; it does collapse, but still takes up a lot of room when collapsed. Also, it does seem to go through batteries (3 Cs) somewhat quickly.

For a lot of babies, a swing is a must-have, and if you think that is your baby, then this one is great. It comes in lots of different color patterns. My baby just was not all that into the swing, except for a2-3 week phase where it was the only place he would fall asleep besides on our shoulders.
